On the evening of March 2, 2009, The After-School Corporation will celebrate the tenth anniversary of our founding at the TASC 10th Anniversary Benefit: The Power of After-School. The benefit reception will take place at One Time Warner Center in New York City.

Ten years ago, George Soros made a $125 million investment in New York City's children and our city's future. Through the Open Society Institute (OSI), Mr. Soros issued a challenge grant to establish The After-School Corporation. His goal: to build a sustainable citywide network of after-school programs for kids who need more time and opportunities to learn. His accomplishment: bringing the power of after-school into the lives of hundreds of thousands of New York City kids.

Since OSI first invested in after-school, every level of government has increased funding for daily, comprehensive programs in New York City. Compared to the 10,000 children who attended daily programs ten years ago, 140,000 attend today. OSI continues to support TASC's work to build after-school systems, expand learning time and give all kids opportunities to grow through after-school and summer programs that support, educate and inspire them.

We will celebrate this one among Mr. Soros's many philanthropic achievements at the TASC 10th Anniversary Benefit: The Power of After-School, with generous underwriting support from Time Warner. If you are interested in learning more about the benefit reception, please call our event producers, Astic Productions, at (212) 581-1400.
