Arne Duncan will join Lucy Friedman and others to address Expanded Learning Time initiatives at the National Press Club.
President-Elect Barack Obama's choice for Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, is scheduled to join District of Columbia Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, TASC President Lucy N. Friedman and three national after-school leaders in a briefing on expanded learning time initiatives at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on Monday, January 12.
Learning Points Associates and the Collaborative for Building After-School Systems (CBASS) will release a new report at the event on "Enhancing School Reform Through Expanded Learning." The report addresses how low performing schools can incorporate expanded learning time in their school reform efforts. Mr. Duncan, Ms. Rhee and Ms. Friedman will be joined at the briefing by An-Me Chung, Senior Program Officer of the C.S. Mott Foundation; David Sinski, Executive Director of After School Matters in Chicago; and Gina Burkhardt, CEO of Learning Point Associates.
