President Obama welcomed students, educators, scientists, philanthropists, and business and nonprofit leaders to the White House yesterday to announce the launch of a new campaign designed to engage more Americans in helping kids discover science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Educate to Innovate initiative will focus mainly on improving and expanding science and math opportunities for kids outside the classroom.
As part of the initiative, the Coalition for Science After School partnered with Time Warner Cable to develop the "Connect a Million Minds" database, a searchable directory of after-school STEM activities for children. TASC is a member of the Coalition for Science After School and TASC President Lucy N. Friedman serves on its executive committee.
