Parents Group Calls for Expanded School Day

The Coalition for Educational Justice, a collaborative of community-based organizations that is led by parents, supports a longer school day and year in New York City public schools. At yesterday’s rally, they called on the Department of Education to lengthen the school day by 30 percent to make time for the arts, sports, advanced courses, extra help for struggling students and other electives.
