In their efforts to improve the lives of children, youth and families, many cities have discovered value in targeting resources and services to individual neighborhoods with high needs. Neighborhood-based approaches such as the Harlem Children's Zone and Orlando's Parramore Kidz Zone create enhanced opportunities to reach and mobilize residents and to monitor tangible outcomes.
In addition, these initiatives serve as learning laboratories for testing new strategies and bringing them to scale in other disadvantaged neighborhoods. Speakers will share lessons from their neighborhood-level work to strengthen families and will discuss how these efforts connect to larger citywide plans and priorities.
