Come to the 2010 Beacons National Conference – Organizing, Enhancing and Creating Resources to Respond to Youth and Communities Around the Country – to hear about how Beacons mobilize adults and youth alike to respond to youth and community needs. Learn about Beacon practices that mobilize youth and adults to improve their communities, lead agencies that have adapted and expanded to strengthen communities, promising practices from Beacons that support community members of all ages to advocate for community change, and lastly, strategies for engaging "non-joiners" in programming. Conference participants will hear about promising practices in Beacon programs from around the country.
Most workshops will be co-facilitated by adults and youth from Beacons. This is a conference FOR and BY Beacon Practitioners. Attendance is completely FREE and most workshops fulfill SACC requirement hours. Audience: practitioners, policymakers, funders, intermediaries and youth.
There will also be a Beacons Youth Summit later in the day where youth councils and leadership groups from all over the city will join together to share what they have been working on and create a plan for a series of youth organized citywide Beacon events.
