Apply Now for Professional Certificate Program The Center for After-School Excellence can help you earn college credits for little or no cost. Our one-year professional certificate programs, at five CUNY colleges, will help you advance your knowledge of youth work while you get on track for better pay, leadership positions and advanced degrees.

Need reasons to apply?

  • Flexibility - Many courses meet on Saturdays or weekday mornings
  • Cost - Full scholarships are available
  • Support - We help you navigate CUNY admissions
  • Requirements - Some courses meet DOH child-care training requirements
  • Credits - Many can transfer with approval from your home school and/or advisor

Best Practices in Summer Learning: Putting the Research to Work nameWhat: Join youth services practitioners and top research scholars to discuss the impact and effectiveness of programs that promote summer learning. Speakers include the director of the Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University. There is no fee.

Earn a Graduate-Level Professional Certificate at Hunter College This August, The Center will launch a graduate level, non-degree professional certificate program ideal for after-school staff members who have earned their Bachelor's degrees. Earn nine graduate credits at Hunter College School of Education. Course topics will include effective teaching, child development and educational psychology.
