What We Do

TASC develops enrichments in such areas of literacy, science and service-learning which we make available, along with staff training, to the New York City after-school programs we support. Other New York City programs can purchase enrichments and trainings from TASC.

Why We Do It

Enrichment opportunities expose young people to knowledge and experiences they might encounter nowhere else and that often awaken lifelong talents and interests. They provide kids with the exposure, experiences and deep engagement for which there is not always time during the school day. By developing and disseminating these enrichments, we give programs access to excellent content and the training staff members need to deliver meaningful, sequenced learning experiences.

Through TASC Masters of Literacy, students experience literacy in different ways than they do during the school day. The Community Justice Project introduces students to police and court officers and encourages them to become advocates for their peers. Through Building Healthy Communities, kids learn about the epidemic of childhood obesity within their own communities, investigate the conditions that promote or discourage healthy behavior, and carry out service learning projects that address these issues.

How We Do It

TASC is offering these enrichments to New York City programs in the current school year.
